Josef Kalleja was a friend of my grandfather, Publius Mifsud (1912-2001). He spoke of him often with great admiration. Publius had a sculpture of Josef's, an eagle made from horn, which he was very proud of. My grandparents and I last saw Josef Kalleja in his home in 1985; our family left Malta for the U.S. in 1951.
